Have you ever hated a photo of yourself? Here’s why I keep taking pictures and why I often appreciate them much more years later.

Refuse Taking Photos?
Some people don’t like taking photos and avoid them at all costs, even with their family and friends. I know people who refuse to take pictures and hide from the camera.
Every Day Counts
I do like taking photos of myself. I don’t always look my best, of course. But I feel like every day counts, and tomorrow I will not be the same—I will be different. As we age, our appearance sometimes changes, and not always for the better, though I try to embrace aging and not stress about it.
You Might Like It Later
Sometimes I take a picture, look at it, and don’t like myself in it. Most of the time, I think I don’t look good in photos. But the interesting thing is that if I forget to delete that picture and look at it a couple of years later, I actually think I look good—maybe even great! That is because I see myself as younger, and I appreciate the features I had at that time.
So I try to value the opportunity to capture moments with the people I love. Even if I don’t like how I look in a picture right now, I know that later I will appreciate it and may even come to like it.
