Do you find it hard to finish what you started? Find simple ways to stay focused and not to put off the things that are important to you.
Why I Lost Interest in My Project
There are definitely some things that I haven’t finished and then lost my inspiration for. Recently, I’ve been struggling with a project I started a couple of years ago — a crochet throw blanket. I crocheted about half of it, and it took several months. Then I didn’t know how to continue the blanket and I stopped for a while. And then it became hard to get back into it. I lost interest and was inspired by other things – this is a tricky part of not finishing what you start.
One Finds it Hard to Stay Focused
Nowadays, it’s hard to focus on just one thing: there is always something else that draws our attention. We have endless sources of inspiration for art and craft on Pinterest and other apps. We come across wonderful ideas but can never actually finish anything.
What I’m trying to say is that while we get brilliant ideas and inspiration, we also get distracted and discouraged from finishing our current projects. Then we feel guilty and frustrated because we haven’t achieved our goals. I guess that’s the pros and cons of living in the modern world.
I Have a Plan to Finish my Project
With my crochet blanket, I decided to commit to working on it for 15 minutes a day. If I don’t feel up to it or am too busy with other things (like making sourdough bread for my family, which is my current priority — I can’t leave them without it, even for a day), I’ve decided that even if I only work on it three times a week for 15 minutes, I’m still making progress.
Should I Consider Decluttering?
If I don’t finish what I started soon, I might have to declutter my blanket, as it takes up a lot of space. I really don’t want to do that because I’ve already put so much work into it. Should I declutter it? Can I declutter a half-made blanket? If someone were to buy it, would they leave it unfinished in their closet for years? So many issues to consider…
