The bread made with freshly milled whole grain flour is the best and healthiest food for your body!
Why Do We Need to Mill Our Own Fresh Flour?
I stopped buying bread from the store since December 2024 after learning about the benefits of milling my own flour. Freshly milled flour has no substitute. It contains all the benefits as soon as you mill the grain, but it loses a bulk of them within the first 24 hours and continues losing more over time. That’s why it doesn’t make sense to buy whole-grain flour from the store—it has probably already lost most of its nutrients. So, having a grain mill is crucial to getting the most out of the grain.
In the past, when people relied on local mills to process their grain, they typically visited the mill weekly. But we live in such an amazing time where we can have our own little electric mill on our kitchen counter, milling as much as we need for today’s baking and enjoying all the benefits.
The Health Benefits of Freshly Milled Flour
Freshly milled flour contains all the essential minerals and vitamins our body needs—39 -40 out of the 44 elements our body requires. It is nutritious because of the germ, which is like an egg or an embryo for the future plant, and it contains protein. It is also good for your gut because of the fiber in the bran, which is the outer part of the grains. Additionally, it aids digestion due to the enzymes in the fiber.
I personally noticed a difference almost immediately. My energy levels went up, and I saw improvements in my immune system.
The Grain and the Bread in the Bible
The story of Joseph in the Bible proves that grains are storable for many years. He stored grains during seven years of abundance to survive the seven years of famine—14 years in total.
On the sealed bucket of grains I bought from Target, the expiration date is set for 30 years from now.
Grains are a complete food, and you don’t need any other foods. Just like in Joseph’s time, during the famine, they didn’t have any other food—no vegetables or fruits, and the cattle had no grass. Everything dried up. They survived and thrived on the bread made from the stored grains, and that’s all they needed.
Jesus compared Himself to the “bread of life.” He is the complete spiritual food—this is all you need.
Children Love Bread
Bread is the easiest food you can give to your children. And talking of bread I don’t refer to store-bought empty product. I mean Bread made with freshly milled whole grain flour containing all elements that the child needs to grow and to be nourished. All children are different and they might have their own food preferences, they may like or dislike vegetables and fruits, meat or fish, milk or eggs. Some kids don’t like broccoli; some won’t eat carrots. But you don’t have to persuade children eat bread—they just love it. I think it’s in our genetics to like bread.
