Have we become too dependent on convenience? Discover the hidden costs of convenience and simple ways to make healthier choices for yourself and your family.

Convenience Over Benefits

We live in a time when we can have a lot of convenience and comfort in almost every area of our lives. But with convenience, we often compromise things that can really benefit us.

The Price Of Convenience

We are willing to spend more money for convenience. For my parents and grandparents, it was not even an issue—they would never spend money on something they could do or make themselves, whether it was food, clothes, or something that needed to be fixed around the house.

Convenient Food

Let’s take food, for example. We can buy any ready-made food we want, but do we think about how healthy and nutritious that food is?

When we cook for ourselves, it might not seem as convenient, but it is so much better for us and our families. And even knowing that, and having all the facts, we are often not ready to give up our convenience and ease. As a result, for the convenience of having quick and easy food, we pay a high price with our health. Is it worth stepping out of our comfort zone, starting to cook at home, and changing this area of our lives for the better?

Convenient Self-Care Routine

Another area where we have committed ourselves to convenience is our self-care routine. People can become obsessed with outer beauty, often at the expense of their health. We are so used to buying shampoo and conditioner from the store, along with hair styling products, cosmetics, sunscreen, bug spray, soap—you name it. Every time we use these products, we know they may not affect our skin and hair in the best way. Yet we rarely consider making some of these products ourselves because it is so convenient to buy them.

Recently, I switched my self-care routine to all DIY products. I make my own products for washing, conditioning, and styling my hair. I also make my own hair dye using henna, which does not compromise my health or safety. Even though I have not seen any tremendous improvement in my hair yet, simply because there has not been enough time for the results to become noticeable, I know that everything I put on my scalp and hair is natural and safe. Right now, that is my priority.

What steps can you take away from convenience in order to benefit yourself and the people you love? What other areas of life do you think are negatively affected by convenience?
